Prepared for Monique at Mobitronics. This page reviews the audit you shared, splits the work into what you can safely do yourself and what needs a specialist, and gives you a straightforward quote with no long contract.
The audit you had done is solid, and the good news is that the problems are all fixable. Your site currently shows Google nearly 49,000 crawlable URLs when only a few hundred are real pages. That is caused by filter links, auto-generated colour, size and capacity archives, and tag pages multiplying on top of each other. Google wastes its time on the noise, several of your own pages fight each other for the same keyword, and your listings get outranked and out-clicked by Takealot and the carriers.
You are comfortable in WordPress, so we use that. The audit's task list divides cleanly into three groups:
Menu link fixes, pasting in new titles and descriptions I write for you, product data hygiene, image alt text, blog publishing and access grants. Step-by-step tutorials for each are included below, free.
robots.txt, noindex rules, redirects, the bulk database link replacement, sitemap, canonical strategy, schema, 404 triage, content mapping and the ongoing monitoring. One wrong move here can de-index the site, so these sit with me.
Settings that look harmless but carry sitewide risk: permalinks, slugs, SEO plugin changes, canonical toggles and bulk category edits. The full "ask first" list is at the bottom of this page.
Sixteen specialist tasks from the audit, grouped into three phases so you can start where the risk and impact are highest. Each phase is a fixed price. You can book them together or one at a time.
| Task | Why it matters | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Block filter and sort parameters in robots.txt (?orderby=, ?filter_*, ?min_price= and friends) | The single highest-impact fix on the list. Stops Google wasting its crawl on thousands of junk URLs. | Critical |
| Apply noindex,follow rules to /colour/, /silicone-colour/, /size/, /capacity/, /product-tag/ and /tag/ archives | Removes the auto-generated page bloat from the index without hiding real pages. | Critical |
| Define the canonical page hierarchy for every model range (iPhone 11 to 17, X, XR, XS, SE, Samsung) | Decides which single page should rank for each keyword. 11 of your URLs currently compete for "iPhone 15" alone. | Critical |
| Audit the /device/ archives: keep genuine ranges, remove invented ones (e.g. "Shop iPhone 15 Max") with correct redirects | Every removal needs a redirect decision so no traffic or link value is lost. | High |
| 301 redirect /brand/apple/ into /product-category/apple/ and build the wider redirect map | Hand-written redirects can loop or chain and quietly break pages. | High |
| Bulk database search-and-replace of ~1,150 internal links from /product/... to /shop/... | Direct database edit. Done with a full backup and a staging test first. | High |
| Rebuild and resubmit the XML sitemap, and fix paginated titles and H1s | The sitemap must contain only pages we want indexed and match the noindex rules exactly. | High |
| Task | Why it matters | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Write new titles and meta descriptions for your top 20 impression pages (you paste them in, tutorial below) | Written to compete against Takealot and the carriers, leading with price and condition. This attacks the 0.7% CTR directly. | High |
| Manually review the live search results for your top 10 queries | We need to see what actually sits above you (ads, shopping results, competitors) and decide organic vs paid per query. | High |
| Validate and complete Product schema: price, availability, condition, ratings | Errors here are invisible on the page but suppress rich snippets and AI citations. | High |
| Triage the 4,404 dead URLs: redirect the valuable ones, let the rest go | Redirecting all of them is as harmful as redirecting none. This needs judgement, not a plugin. | High |
| Keyword mapping and rewrite briefs for category page content | Your category hubs (856 words median) are weaker than the product pages beneath them, so they compete instead of supporting each other. | High |
| Rebuild internal linking: category hub down to products, blog into commercial pages | Link architecture decides which pages Google treats as important. | High |
| Task | Why it matters | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Organization and LocalBusiness schema with full business facts (warranty, grading, returns, Cape Town presence, payment options) | AI assistants verify claims through structured data. Machine-readable trust facts make Mobitronics safe to recommend. | High |
| Restructure key pages as extractable answers: question headings, concise first-sentence answers, FAQ blocks with schema | AI engines cite only 2 to 7 sources per answer and pull mostly from the top of a page. Structure decides who gets quoted. | High |
| Submit and verify the site in Bing Webmaster Tools | ChatGPT's web search runs on Bing's index. Most SA competitors ignore Bing entirely, which is your opening. | Quick win |
| Entity consistency pass: identical name, address, phone and description across Google Business Profile, socials and directories | Conflicting details lower an AI engine's confidence in the business. Consistency is a citation lever. | High |
| Baseline AI visibility snapshot: what ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini currently say when asked about buying pre-owned iPhones in South Africa | You cannot improve what you have not measured. This becomes the benchmark for the monthly check. | High |
| Task | Why it matters | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly Search Console monitoring: indexed count, "crawled - not indexed", non-brand clicks, CTR and new 404s | The numbers only mean something read together against the baseline, especially in the months after big technical changes. | Ongoing |
| Monthly AI visibility check: referrals from ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, prompt testing, citation sources | A new channel that needs manual testing and interpretation, not a dashboard. | Ongoing |
| Monthly report and priority list, plus email support for your DIY tasks | You always know what moved, why, and what to do next. | Ongoing |
Fixed prices per phase, so there are no surprise hours. Start with Phase 1 only if you want to test the water. All prices in South African Rand, no VAT charged (not a registered vendor).
The full audit implementation, start to finish, including all DIY tutorials, the written copy you paste in, and email support while you work through your own task list.
These are the twelve tasks from the audit that are safe and sensible for you to do in WordPress. The tutorials below walk you through the trickier ones with pictures. Where a task depends on me (for example, pasting in copy I write), it is marked.

WordPress cannot rename files after upload.None of this is about locking you out of your own site. These ten settings look harmless but carry sitewide risk; a five-minute "is this safe?" message saves weeks of recovery. This list comes straight from the audit.
You grant access (tutorial 5) and answer the four open questions from the audit. I take a full backup before touching anything.
robots.txt, noindex rules, canonical strategy, redirects, the bulk link replacement and the sitemap. Meanwhile you knock out the menu quick wins (tutorial 1).
I write the top-20 titles and metas and send them over; you paste them in (tutorial 2). Schema validation, 404 triage, category briefs and the internal linking plan land here too.
Business schema, answer-ready page structure, Bing submission, entity consistency, and your baseline AI visibility snapshot.
Weekly Search Console monitoring and the monthly AI visibility check (the optional care plan). Realistic expectations: index cleanup shows in 2 to 6 weeks, CTR gains as the new titles roll in, and AI citation changes typically within 4 to 8 weeks of the Phase 3 work.
If this looks right, reply to my email and I will send the invoice for whichever option you choose. To start, I need four quick answers from the audit's open questions:
